Sponsorship at Airways is about building meaningful partnerships that align with our values and strategy,  and create a positive impact for the aviation industry or local community Our sponsorships are focussed on developing the next generation of aviators.

Our current sponsorships include:

Airways mobile tower Alexandra
Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School

Each year, around 70 students from across New Zealand gather in Matamata for the Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School.

Running since 1967, this two-week camp offers hands-on aviation training to teenagers with little or no flying experience. The goal is for students to achieve their first solo flight. The programme also introduces key aviation topics from air traffic control to engineering and meteorology.

Airways has supported the school for over 30 years. Our team provides air traffic control services to ensure safe and efficient operations. Beyond that, our people actively participate in camp life, sharing knowledge, mentoring students and fostering a passion for aviation.

This long-standing partnership reflects our commitment to inspiring the next generation of aviators in New Zealand. Many graduates go on to pursue careers as air traffic controllers, pilots and engineers.

Young Eagles NZ

The Young Eagles programme through Flying NZ is designed to encourage young people to experience flying for themselves.

Managed through local aero clubs, the programme is recommended for those between 14 and 18 years old. It provides the opportunity for young people to consider flying for sport and recreation, or as a future career. Many Young Eagles graduates have gone on to take roles in aviation-related fields, as pilots, engineers and air traffic controllers.

The Young Eagles programme includes a variety of activities designed to teach the participants and to maintain their interest and membership through to age 15, at which time the Young Eagles qualify to apply for one of the scholarships on offer.

Applying for sponsorship

We consider sponsorships for a range of initiatives and all applications are carefully assessed for their potential impact, value and alignment with our goals. While we are open to receiving new sponsorship requests, we may not always be able to help as we may already be fully committed to existing initiatives.
