With over thirty different nationalities represented across Airways, we are proud to champion a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture. We strive to be a workplace where everyone feels that they belong and they are safe to be their true self.
Diversity allows us to understand and look at things in different ways. Equity is an approach that ensures everyone has access to the same opportunities. Inclusion creates an environment where our employees are included in decisions and discussion, where they feel they belong.
This leads to improved outcomes for our people and the services we offer to our customers.
Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee are responsible for agreeing measurable and meaningful goals for Airways to achieve and to hold the business accountable to ensure these are achieved.
We are proud to be a member of DiversityWorks. In 2023, we received the Rainbow Tick accreditation and signed the PridePledge. We also partner with DivergenThinking in the area of Neurodiversity and are in their nQTick accredited programme.
We are progressing on our journey of how we better support our female workforce here at Airways. We have a real focus on encouraging more females into the aviation sector, as well as into leadership roles.
It is important to us that our Airways leadership and employee cultural understanding, competence and confidence in Te Reo Māori (the Māori language), Tikanga Māori (customary practices), and Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi) is encouraged and supported in everyday contact with colleagues through online learning, tools and resources.
To deliver an excellent service we need to have an excellent team. Our people are crucial to our success and it is important to ensure we understand how our people feel about working at Airways. We partner with external specialist Ask Your Team to gather regular feedback from our employees on what they think and how they feel about working at Airways. We connect through activities such as Kōrero & Kai, where employees chat with an executive and senior leader over some kai (food) about how things are going.
