Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Otago.
What inspired you to apply for work experience at Airways Training?
While I was looking for my first finance/accounting job after finishing my university degree, I wanted to gain some real-world experience within a large organisation. The work-experience programme at Airways Training provided me with an opportunity to help transition from a university environment into a business one.
What was it like working for Airways Training?
Everyone at Airways Training was really friendly and approachable. They were willing to answer any questions I had. They even helped me prepare for the next step in my career by giving me advice on my CV and interviewing techniques for when applying for graduate jobs.
On a day-to-day basis I was doing a wide variety of tasks, from assisting with financial administration, to completing user-acceptance software testing and supporting the administration team in their coordination of courses at the Training Centre.
What did you take out from your experience at Airways Training?
It was great to contribute to an exciting and dynamic team, and to apply my knowledge learnt from university to a real-world environment. I gained insight into how an organisation operates on a day-to-day basis, got valuable practical experience with software applications, and developed organisational and professional communication skills.
What are you doing now?
Now I have a job as a Finance Grad intern at a large company in Auckland.
