Service has resumed at Wellington Airport. Surface water has been cleared, resolving the earlier disruption to the airport’s Instrument Landing System. Safety checks were completed in time to allow the arrival of an international flight at 12.44am. Our teams will continue to work through the night in preparation for the first morning flights.
Work is continuing to clear surface water which has been affecting Wellington Airport's Instrument Landing System overnight. Further testing of equipment shows the systems are operating correctly, however the surface water on the airfield is disrupting signals being sent and received by systems.
Work is underway to clear as much of the water from the airfield as quickly as possible, so that full services can be resumed.
Airways technicians will remain at the airport overnight to continue testing and ensure the safe operation of the system as the surface water clears.
Arrivals into Wellington Airport are currently suspended due to an issue with the airport's Instrument Landing System. The issue has been identified as being weather related and Airways technicians on site are working to resolve it. A further update on will be available shortly.
