You bring the energy, and we’ll turn it into expertise.
At Airways, we offer development opportunities for everyone. Our learning and development strategy is innovative and has been recognised as one of the best in the industry. Within our highly specialised workforce, there are varied pathways, each supported with career development opportunities.
We have our own in-house training centre which provides Air Traffic Control training, as well as a broad range of operational training such as risk management, systems training and project management. Furthermore, we recognise the importance of supporting our people’s wellbeing and offer programmes in stress resilience, health and safety, working wiser and navigating change. Outside of these programmes, we offer plenty of support for continuous learning, such as study assistance, seminar attendance and on-the-job training.
Our Airways Leadership Model has its foundations in a global leadership competency framework. Further built upon our strategic intent and underpinned by our values, we are clear about what great leadership looks like at Airways. All our leaders are provided with the opportunity for targeted development activities, according to their specific needs.
We continuously review and adapt our leadership development initiatives to support our leaders in staying relevant and fulfilling their potential.
Development for technical professionals
We provide specialised theory and equipment maintenance courses, and refreshers, for air traffic safety electronics personnel (ATSEP) required to comply with ICAO standards.
Additionally, we have a trainee programme which addresses the gap between a tertiary qualification and the core skills required for technical roles in an ANSP. Graduates of this programme are able to work competently, independently and safely.
Our aviation systems courses are designed to ensure that technical staff have the knowledge and skills to keep systems and equipment operating as needed.
Understanding our business
We have a wide range of initiatives that help our people understand and participate in shaping our vision, business strategy and values.
Unplugged sessions are regular interactions with our executive team, bringing our people up to speed on our strategy and how we are tracking.
Our culture and values are critically important to us. We invite people from across the business to participate in initiatives that support how we evolve our culture and live our values. Being part of this team provides invaluable growth opportunities for people to step up as leaders in this space.
The ‘Walk in my shoes’ programme includes a number of opportunities for people to partner with colleagues to learn and experience different roles and teams. Opportunities include visiting a control tower, attending a workshop to learn more about a new product or service, or joining engineers on the runway.
