Warbirds Over Wanaka is a celebration of the achievements of mankind over the past 100 years or more in a number of fields, principally aviation in peace and in war but also in agriculture and technology generally.

Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow 2008 will be the most spectacular warbird airshow ever held in the southern hemisphere. For three days over Easter, Lake Wanaka will become centre-stage for an extravaganza of aerial action never before seen in New Zealand.

See some of the most famous warbirds in the world join forces with the classic aircraft of yesteryear and the modern jets of today to present. It is a veritable feast of aviation attractions.

On the ground, a variety of military vehicles, vintage machinery and vehicles and an aviation trade expo will vie for your attention. Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow 2008 will be the complete entertainment package for all.

On the morning of Saturday 22nd March, delegates will travel by luxury coach direct from the Rydges Hotel, Queenstown over the spectacular Crown Range through to the airshow aerodrome at the ski resort town of Wanaka. Registration for the event includes entry to the airshow and all food and beverages for the day. TUG delegates will be provided with their own fenced grandstand with comfortable seating. The TUG grandstand is situated with uninterrupted views of the action – approximately twenty metres from the runway! Food and beverages will be available from the adjacent private marquee.

The airshow starts at approximately 10am and runs through until about 5pm and the action is non-stop – be sure to bring a camera and plenty of memory cards! The airshow includes mock ground and air battles featuring authentic historic military aircraft and vehicles in addition to many ‘grounded’ exhibits, stalls and display booths. It is advised to bring very warm clothing as the weather in this alpine region can change quickly. At the end of the show delegates will travel by luxury coach back to the warmth of the Rydges Hotel in Queenstown.
