Airways NZ Billing System achieves completion milestone in Saudi Arabia and Fiji.
Airways continues to establish Flight-Yield™ as the aviation industry’s leading automated aeronautical billing with successful implementation in Fiji and site acceptance testing expected to be complete in October for the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (GACA).
In one of the toughest eras in the history of the airline industry, operators, whether ANSP’s, airport companies or airlines are facing intense pressure to reduce costs or find new revenue streams. This is where Flight-Yield™ comes in” says sales manager, Malcolm Young.
“Everyone is looking closely at how they manage their business, contain costs and find working capital. Cost recovery is a critical element of the challenge; Flight-Yield ™ maximises the revenue collected from all users of airspace; it enhances the ability to collect air service charges quickly and easily, while satisfying airline requirements for accuracy and fairness.”
Airways is part of a team, including ERA and Adacel, engaged by Airports Fiji Limited (AFL) where Flight-Yield™ is sourcing and integrating data from the newly implemented multi-lateration surveillance system, and advanced air traffic management (ATM) system for the Nadi flight information region (FIR).
In Saudi, Flight-Yield™ will interface with and automatically fuse the multiple flight messages from GACA’s three Thales Eurocat-X advanced air traffic management systems and form the single best view of the entire flight. The accuracy of the ATM data and Flight-Yield’s data fusion and error correction technology will enable the generation of on-time and accurate invoicing.
“Revenue assurance is a key business initiative, automating and improving the billing process along with introducing on-line payment will see GACA achieve significant business process improvement” said Mr Young.
The Flight-Yield™ installation in Fiji and Saudi Arabia comes on the back of its success with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (3rd largest in the world by flight volume), and Papua New Guinea Air Services. For a number of years in Airways has been using Flight-Yield™ for its own domestic requirements, plus delivering an en-route/Oceanic billing bureau service for the nations of Tonga, Western Samoa, Cook Islands and Niue.

What is Air Traffic Control?
Air Traffic Control comprises the various aircraft navigation and communication systems that use computers, radar, radios, and other instruments and devices to provide guidance to flying aircraft.
Trained personnel working as air traffic controllers at stations on the ground constantly monitor these systems and track the locations and speeds of individual aircraft. Controllers can warn aircraft should they come too close to each other. Air traffic control is also used for the safe coordination of landings and takeoffs at airports.
